Resolution
We would recommend a stainless steel cleaner being used on the appliance to prevent further rust spots from appearing on the appliance. We do manufacture a stainless steel cleaner which is designed specifically to be used on our appliance which can be purchased through our online Webshop by following the link below
All appliances that have stainless steel should be cleaned with specialised products.
DO NOT USE:
- Any product containing chlorides - including cleansing surface wipes
- Disinfectants - including bleach
- Stain remover
- Rust remover
- Immersion cleaners
Stainless steel should not be cleaned or come in contact with any of the above, as these products can corrode the metal. Always check the product ingredients that they are safe to use.

Steel Care stainless steel cream
What to do if chlorides have come into contact with stainless?
Ensure you clean the area that has been in contact with the chloride-based product with warm and mild detergent. This tends to happen when a floor is being mopped and the head of the mop has skirted across the bottom of the appliance. Rinse out the cloth and re-wipe to clear away the detergent.
Cause
- Rust on stainless steel can be caused due to the microlayer of Chromium oxide being scratched or damaged by chemicals, causing oxygen to make contact with the naked metal resulting in rust.
- We would not recommend abrasive cleaners such as bleach and hydrochloric acid-based cleaners being used on the appliance.
- Residue salt and vinegar from cooking being left on the stainless steel can also cause rust spots as the salt will damage the protective Chromium oxide layer.
