Washer dryers care: Do's and Don'ts
Resolution
Maintain the efficiency of your drum and prevent "musty" odours.
The Do's
- Do run a monthly maintenance wash: Empty the drum and run a hot cycle at 90°C to kill bacteria and eliminate slimy biofilm.
- Do check your pockets: Always clear out coins, hairpins, and loose objects before a wash, as they are the leading cause of blocked drain pumps and torn drum seals.
- Do descale every 6 months: Use a professional descaler (like Super Care) twice a year to combat limescale, especially if you live in a hard-water area.
- Do wipe down the rubber seal: Give the door gasket a quick wipe every month to remove trapped lint, hair, and slimy debris.
The Don'ts
- Don't close the door immediately after a cycle: Leave both the machine door and the detergent drawer slightly ajar to allow air circulation and prevent mold and musty odors from developing.
- Don't overuse detergent: Avoid the temptation to use extra soap. Excess detergent doesn't mean cleaner clothes—it builds up residue in the pipes and triggers "E20" drainage errors.
- Don't use harsh abrasives on the drum: Never use wire wool or abrasive stainless-steel cleaners inside the drum, as they cause micro-scratches that can ruin the surface.
