Oven light not working on some settings
Issue
- The oven light does not turn on when using certain cooking functions or programmes
Applies to
- Ovens
- Freestanding Cookers
Resolution
Some oven programmes are designed to operate without activating the oven light. This is normal behaviour and does not indicate a fault with the appliance.
The following programmes are designed for controlled, low‑temperature operation and therefore do not use the oven light:
- Moist Fan Baking
- Humid Hot Air
- Dough Proving
- Other low‑temperature programmes
Note: Programme names and availability may vary depending on the oven model. Refer to your user manual for the exact programme names on your appliance.
On these settings, the oven light remains off to support stable cooking conditions during the programme.
1. Check the selected programme
If one of the programmes listed above is selected, the oven light will not turn on. This is expected behaviour and the appliance is working correctly.
2. Check the oven bulb
If the oven light does not turn on when using standard cooking functions (such as conventional baking or grilling), the bulb may need replacing.
Check your user manual on how to replace the bulb.
