How the Delay Start Function Works on Washing Machines

Issue

With Delay Start option you can delay the start of a programme at a more convenient time.

Touch repeatedly the button to set required delay. The time increases by steps of 30 minutes up to 90 minutes and from 2 hours to 20 hours.

You might notice that after setting 90 minutes or 2 hours up to 20 hours and activating it by pressing Start/Pause button, display doesn’t show any changes for several minutes.

It looks like option doesn’t work and countdown process doesn’t start. You can suspect it even more, because if Delay Start is set to 30 minutes or 60 minutes, display shows decreasing time to start indicating minutes to start the cycle.

For example, when you set Delay Start to 60 minutes, you will see 59, 58, 57, 56………3, 2, 1, 0 and then selected cycle will start.

This is not a defect when you see no changes after setting up 90 minutes or from 2 hours up to 20 hours.

It’s a correct behavior of washing machine. Countdown process works in background without changing time values until the clock reaches 60 minutes.

For longer delays, the countdown is displayed in larger time intervals (hours) rather than continuously updating every minute.

All displays have three 7-segments digits to show Delay Time in hours format from 2 up to 20 hours, minutes format from 30 up to 90 minutes.

Delay Time decreases by step of one minute during the last hour and it is shown without leading zeros (for example: 59, 5, 0).

If you set for example 3 hours Delay Time, the visible countdown sequence will by like this:

• 3 (hours)
• after 60 minutes - 2 (hours)
• after 30 minutes – 90 (minutes)
• after 30 minutes - 60 (minutes)
• then the display counts down minute by minute from 59 to 0

FAQ – Delay Start countdown

Is my washing machine faulty if the display stays on the same number?
No. The Delay Start countdown continues in the background even when the display does not change.

When does the minute-by-minute countdown begin?
The minute countdown becomes visible when 60 minutes remain before the programme starts.

Can I use Delay Start for several hours?
Yes. Depending on the model, Delay Start can be set up to 20 hours.

Why does the display change from hours to minutes?
The display automatically switches to minutes as the start time approaches.

Will the programme start automatically?
Yes. The selected programme will start automatically when the delay time reaches 0.
