Hob: Smell of gas, potential gas leak
Issue
- The smell of gas from around hob
Applies to
- Gas hobs
Resolution
Modern Electrolux/AEG/Zanussi gas appliances are very safe and feature many clever safety cut-outs and protection devices to ensure the supply of gas is shut off if for instance the flame is blown out.
If you do think you smell gas from around the appliance, it is more likely to be linked with the installation, possibly a connection, or fitting. Any potential gas leak or smell of gas should be investigated urgently. If possible, turn off the gas supply at the meter and call:
0800 111 999
The local gas supplier will come out and test it free of charge. If a leak is found, the supplier will turn off the gas and you will need to contact a registered installer to fix the leak.
